Is walking a good exercise to loose weight?

I Have been walking two miles a day for four months it seems to be helping.
Answer:
Yes, walking is the greatest way to lose weight, without having to fast, or go extreme on not eating. Walking uses almost all of you muscles in your body, and is great cardio. Walking is a great way to lose weight, and I recommend you keep on doing it. But have you ever considered running a little too, or extending your walk? To recieve better results and firmer muscles, gradually extend and you'll see better results not only in losing weight, but also in strength as well.
Then it must be working...it's lose NOT loose.
I am not sure
yes
Yes, walking is an excellent way to burn calories and two miles is just about right. Good job and keep it up!
Yes, walking is one of the first exercises that a doctor would recommend you do if you wanted to lose weight.
it is of course you will be skinny in no time
Yes, it helps! Any exercise helps.
I walk 20 minutes a day 5 days a week and I see the results. It takes longer than extreme dieting but it's a start for me! Keep it up :)
quite yes. But running two miles a day will easily loose weight than walking.
Walking is a GREAT exercise and one that you can do well into your later years. Keep it up. You burn approx. 100 calories per mile whether you run or walk. If you get bored with walking try mixing in some jogging. There's some links below to help keep you going. Best of luck!- Mike
Sure is. It takes about 20 minutes of steady heart-rate effort to burn 100 calories, roughly. However, it IS a calories-in vs. calories-burned formula. WHAT you eat for those calories also counts. Fruit and bran calories are obviously better than ice cream calories, as they "train" your body to be more efficient by fueling it better. This pays off in subtle things like your catabolic process at NIGHT better serving your body in resetting itself chemically for the next day.
Also consider swimming and biking if you can, as those are lower-impact things that preserve your joints more. Swimming in particular involves your whole system with little stress as such, so its good all around.
Also avoid artificial sweeteners. After reading about how aspartame and Splendra can interfere with the catabolic process, I cut them out and felt noticeably better after a few weeks. Stick to "real" foods and you'll be better off. Keep up the good work.
