You have to burn more calories then you consume. Some do it with diet, some do it with exercise and some do a combination. The combo works the best.

The 2 and a half months I've lost over 60 Lbs. All I've done is give up fast food. I eat sandwishes, frozen dinners, yogert and drink nothing but water, OJ and skim milk. I take long walks in the working and work out three times a week at night when I get of work. Push ups and sit ups are nessesity. Good luck, bro.

whoa that is a bad idea - no you will not lose weight! because you will be dead.seriously though the answer is no because your body will go into starvation mode. It will start to store any fat you have and burn your water and muscles ~ bad idea.you should eat at least 1200 calories a day and burn no more than 300-500 calories a day in order to lose weight

hi i am trying to lose weight, i started my diet about a week ago, and have seen results, but i am very unsure if i am dieting correctly, for the past week i have ate yogurt for breakfast everyday, something with carbs and a little bit of fat and protein for lunch such as pizza or a tuna sandwich, and for dinner i have been eating a salad with no chicken and little to no dressing. By the way i also eat nothing in between my meals, besides water. I also do cardio 5 out of 7 days. i need to know if its healthier to eat carbs for lunch, dinner or breakfast, i have lost some weight since last week but need to maximize my results and every person i have asked gives me another answer. please help thank you

The weight you have lost in that week is merely water, I hate to dissapoint you on that, but here are a few tips.
First thing- don't change how much you eat (unless it is WAY WAY to much), start out by changing what you are eating. If it comes in a diet option, try it. If you are drinking 1% milk, try skim (or the next percentage down), avoid juice (liquid calories are way to easy to consume and hard to get rid of). Second thing- Watch out for when you are eating these things, often times it is better to have smaller meals and snack throughout the day. Third thing- NEVER EAT FAST FOOD. It is essentially a slow acting poison on your body and can lead to more health problems than you can think of. Fourth thing- if you don't exercise, start out going for walks in the park or somehting, then bring it up to a light jog (once you are comfortable), then slowley bring up the intensity.Fifth thing- Evaluate everything you put in your mouth, (i.e. avoiding higher fat meats like ribs, pork.. try fish instead or dear or chicken... then general meat rule is that the fewer legs it had as an animal, the better it is for you). Also, think about what goes into you ask yourself, "Should I be eating this?"Sixth thing- You don't have to be doing all this 100% of the time, treat yourself, but recognize your priorities when it comes to it and don't let "treating yourself" get out of hand.
With your salad you should have some grilled chicken or something like that. Protein'll fill you up without making you gain weight, plus it's healthy for losing weight.
Hello! Sounds to me like you aren't quiet eating enough. I'd add a piece of fruit or a piece of whole wheat toast or some oatmeal to your breakfast. Just yogurt isn't enough to get you going. Make sure you do have 1-2 small (100 calories or so) snacks during the day.... handful of nuts, a piece of fruit, anything healthy. Also, be sure you don't eat the very same meals day after day. It gets boring and harder for you to stay on track! Are you doing cardio at a gym? As to see if they have a nutritionist there and run your diet by them if you can! Good luck with your diet!

Losing Weight! Any Advice?

okay. I am 14 years old and I weigh 126 pounds. I like my figure but I wish I could lose some more weight. At the beginning of the summer of 06' I weighed 134 pounds and over the summer I lost some weight because of doing sit-ups and push-ups. I know I weigh okay for my age. I mean, I`m not fat, but I`m not too skinny either. I want to weigh about 115 pounds by the end of May. Any Advice?

Honey, if your not fat please don't become obsessed with losing weight. You're only 14 years old and you're still growing . It's only natural that you are going to get heavier. Keep up the exercise, stay healthy and don't try to look like those super models. I personally don't find them that attractive. There are many guys out there, like me, who would rather see a natural looking woman than some starved, artificially skinny woman. As your handle says, be yourself, don't try to be an unhealthy reproduction of what somebody else is trying to sell you. Love yourself.
You've got 3 months to lose 11 pounds. That means roughly about 3.5 pounds per month or in round figures, about 3/4th to 1 pound a week should be more than adequate. These are just a few ideas: By all means have a good breakfast. You will usually work off the calories you have for breakfast if you don't overeat! Have a light snack in the mid morning and mid afternoon. Fruit or low-cal milk or crackers is good. Also have one of these for the late night munchies. Maybe you have a friend who can do this with you. If you bicycle briskly at 13.5 miles/hour you will burn 100 calories in just 15 minutes. That is fun and a great way to burn up calories. Exercise will help. Also, cutting down portions that you eat will help. DON'T STARVE! Eat healthy and eat lightly and eat often throughout the day. It is not necessary to go hungry in order to lose weight. Watch what you eat, control the portions that you eat and get some exersize at least 3-4 times a week. YOU CAN DO IT!

Losing weight with an Office Job?

I'm 5'3 145lbs, trying to get down to about 125-130. I just recently changed my eating habits, I switched to 5 small meals a day vs. 3 huge to keep from snacking and lowered my calorie intake to about 1200-1300 per day. I work out 5 times a week ( 45 mins. cardio 30 min weight training). But my biggest problem is I have an office job that conisist of sitting on my butt all day, anyone have any suggestions or ideas of things I can do throughout the day b/c I know this will be my biggest challenge. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

You are on the right track. Give it time and you will be fine. How about using your lunch and your break time to walk outside? If you have an hour lunch and bring your own, you should have enough for a quick 15 minute walk.

Believe it or not, there are exercizes for the office chair---they are in a book that should be easy to find--or at a doctor's office--go ask. You really are in the same boat as millions of other people--office workers with a need to move around as often as possible. Sit on the chair and bend way over while in the sitting position..10 seconds and sit up. Pretend to pick imaginary fruit from a tree--reach slowly and pretend to grasp the fruit and pull it down. Really really stretch for the apple way high up. Rotate your head in nice slow circles--left then right--carefully do this without straining--start slow. Put your hands on the chair seat along side your thighs--push your body up and hold for 10 seconds--lower, relax and do it again. Now this sounds silly--but tighten your butt muscles as hard as possible as often as possible. Run the office stairs when you can--if there are stairs. Take 2 rolls of quarters--one in each hand--squeeze them---100 times a session. get a 2 pound weighted bracelet--one on each wrist--all day is like lifting weights--but you don't even feel it---do this kind of stuff all day, everyday--no one sees it and you get more exercize than at a gym--guaranteed.Good luck and keep smiling--

Losing weight quickly, flat stomach?

okay so im seeing my boyfriend in 6 days and i wish there was some way i could look real good. anything thats good to eat or excersises i could do for the few days before that would flatten my stomach or just make me look in good shape. i havent seen him for about 2 months. let me know if anybody has any ideas on food or excersises or vitamans that help lose weight. thanks!!

listen KB if your boyfriend hasn`t seen you for 2 months I doubt it very much if he will be looking to see how flat your stomach is, his mind will be on other things! However if you really have to try and make yourself feel better, just cut out the high fat, high sugar foods, eat porridge for breakfast (made with skimmed milk) and a handful of sultanas, eat a bowl of chopped salad with a small chicken breast (or any lean meat or fish) for lunch, and fruit with natural yoghurt for after, for your main meal eat fresh steamed fish and vegetables, have another piece of fruit as a snack. Cut out the fizzy drinks and drink fresh water, limit your tea or coffee to just two drinks per day (if you have it) do not forget to drink 2 - 2 and a half litres of fluid in total per day (including tea, coffee etc). Go swimming if you can for at least half an hour every day or walk briskly for at least half an hour every day after your main meal Good luck and stop worrying he will just be looking forward to seeing you again!
Ok my advice is drink plenty water before every dinner and this will stop you eating much, after all eat plenty salad with lemon and vinegar. If you have a time try to run for half hour everyday. good luck and every woman is beatifull.
LiposuctionAs much as you think I'm being a smartazz, I'm being honest. There's very very little you can do in six days without extreme measures such as restricting your sodium to nothing and drinking 2 gallons of water a day. If you really want to look good for him, eat nothing but tuna for the next 6 days and drink 2 gallons of water. Oh, and not canned tuna, fillets from the store grilled at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

first watch what you eat. have about 4 small portions instead of 3 big meals a day. eat slowly to savor it to make you want to eat less after the meal. after lunch, eat something light with protein in order to curb hunger such as a low fat cheese stick or something. eat fruits or the 100 calorie packs instead of snacks such as cookies or chips. try not to go over 1200 calories a day or such - set your own limit and use a food log to keep track of what you eat if you can't do it mentally. also do more crunches than sit-ups and start jogging every morning for about an hour or so.
Do sit ups. Trust me, they work. And even if you can't do a sit up, then just do as much as you can, because you're still working the same muscles and it's still working. Do a bunch until you can't bring yourself to do anymore, then rest until your stomach feels okay again(like a minute), then do it again, then again. And do that however much you think you need. But I know if I do that at night, in the morning I wake up with a flat stomach, especially if I really limited myself with food during the day.

first, start by cleaning out your system by drinking tea. by like green tea. i swear that stuff makes you crap out EVERYTHING. it cleans out your system really well. you can lose a pound already just by doing that. you'll have a stomach ache because of all the system cleansing but you'll be fine afterwards.
then drink lots of water dont forget that. try this. it might sound dorky, but it works. wear a black garbage bag over yourself and jog/run in the sun. black will attract the sun and it will make you sweat a lot. especially with the garbage bag material. ive done it and i've lost a lot in the course of a couple of days. a lot of it is water weight but if you just keep up the good work, you'll be good in no time.

Losing weight on weight watchers?

I weigh about 200 lbs and I was wondering if it is possible while being on weight watchers, to get down to 150-160 by mid August this year. It is about 40-50 pounds in about 5 months.

My parents both went on weight watchers, and each lost 80 pounds in one year. There is more than one weight watcher plan; they chose the flex plan, and they didn't use all their points, or they wouldn't have been so successful.
I know a lot of people who have lost weight with weight watchers. You should also try to do cardio and toning exercises to increase your chances of really losing some weight. Taebo is a great all boy workout and you burn a lot of calories. It would be a good choice with weight watchers.

You won't be able to loose weight just from your face, honey. Only general weight loss frome entire body makes the difference. It seams like you are pretty skinny.
But what might help you is a GAIN muscle mass and reduction on % of body fat. Start exercising and it will make a difference. Go to the local gym and talk to the trainer. He/she might help you to develop a program just for you for a moderate muscle gain. Don't worry, you won't look like an Arnold Shwarzeneger...LOL it will take years of weight lifting and tons of protein to buff you that much. :) But what exercise will give you is a self confidence, you will feel more energized and help you to love your body. :)

Losing too much weight?

About three months ago I had an upper respiratory infection %26 bronchitis. After that I lost my appetite and just didn't gain it back. I have lost between 15-20 lbs. I have been overweight since puberty and I am only 19 but have lost all this weight. I needed to lose this weight but I am scared that I am losing it too rapidly. I actually have to make myself eat some mornings in fear I will make myself sick. Some advice please?

I would go to the doctor and talk to him about it. Losing that much weight after an uncomplicated upper respiratory infection is not normal!

OK, I know what you're thinking, but let's not worry yet. The illness will certainly leave you weak for a while, and no doubt your eating habits changed when you became ill. It may take a while to get your appetite back. When I had pneumonia and other stuff, it was 2 months before I could manage to walk to the gate. When you were ill, did you have any tests done, bloods, phlegm samples, x-rays? These would have ruled out the worst case scenario. You need to see your doctor and explain all this to him. You may have another illness, not connected to the original one, but one that can be treated. Only your doc can give you a diagnosis. Hope you get things sorted out soon. Good luck
Its unhealthy when your doctor says so. If you are hungry than you should eat. Eat small snacks like fruits and veggies.
Though you don't give a time frame on how much weight you lost, 15-20 for you may not be that bad in say..4 weeks or so.
Also sounds like a stress issue, the heart can make you do all kinds of things, and a bad breakup= depressed for sure.
Try not to take it out on your body, your smart, and you know what your body needs to take care of you. Put you first!
Fresh air can bring a new outlook on things (Walk) and a good bunch of friends to hang out with helps also.

Losing lots of weight really fast?

If you eat only an apple a day you will wind up very sick and maybe even dead. Throwing up will also not work. Eat a 3 sensible meals with a high fiber or high protein snack between meals and exercise to lose weight.

well you wont make it on just an apple a day because that would mean you are taking in like less than 100 calories a day lol. that is impossible. you would be better off eating more apples and other fruits and just burning a ton of calories by exercising. you cannot exercise or function normally without a set number of carbs and calories. you can try it, but you will fail big time. it is impossible to go about your day only eating an apple. if that was possible, people would have already tried it.

try riding a bike or liek cycling at the gym. only 10 minutes burns 100 calories! we have a stationary bike in my basement so what i do is ride for 10 minutes while watching tv or listenin to music. then i rest for 5 minutes and drink water. i do that 6 times a day. i havent even been eating less than normal and ive lost 6 pounds in 5 days already! =] honestly.

Im 5'10 and 144 lbs.. I cut my intake to less than 500 calories a day... I get Up about 7, Eat a banana at 12, a nutrigrain bar at 4, and two bites of Plain lettuce " no dressing" at 7.... IS this Healty???

Definitely NO! Losing weight or not, you can really do damage only eating 500 calories. Your body needs the food not only to live but to help other ways. I always read that a healthy weight you can figure out by your height. Start at 5' and go with 100lbs. Each inch taller you are, add 5lbs. So for 5'10" being 144lbs is definitely ideal weight.My suggestion is eat healthily obviously (which includes more than what you are eating), drinking water and exercise. Which yes, everyone, every diet says this. If you feel you have "problem areas" and its what is causing you to feel like you are not of ideal size, then what you really need to be doing is toning. Finding your exercize regimen that you like (ie. pilates, yoga, taebo, etc) will help you enjoy what you are doing and will get better results.

If you are trying to lose weight which it sounds like you are the average person needs about 1200 to 1600 calories. But when you get below 1000 your body goes into starvation mode and stores every ounce of fat because it does not know when it is going to get to eat again.If you are worried about eating too much try eating six small meals a day... eat something when you get up in the morning it doesnt have to be much but something to get your metabolism going. So if you get up at about 700 try eating a wheat bagel with some peanut butter then maybe a few hours later have a snack like some fruit then for lunch have that salad but more than two bites with some low cal dressing, then maybe around 3 or 4 depending on when you eat dinner have another snack like some veggies and dip(you can even use a fat free ranch dressing) then for dinner have something like a meal replacement shake if you do not feel like eating really, then a few hours later have a snack like yogurt and nuts or something like that. But never starve yourself... once you go back to eating you usually always put what ever weight that you have lost and then some back on. Just try to maintain a healthy body weight and make sure you exercise a few times a week. But dont exercise too much as that is not healthy either. Good luck and please take care of yourself. Hey man I was in the same boat about 1 1/2 months ago. I was 6'0 and 216 now I'm @198!!! I joined 24hr. fitness and hired a Personal Trainer. It was thebest $1000 of my life. I have a 2yr old son and another on the way, I needed to get into shape. Here is the best advise if you cannot afford a trainer.... STOP the soda!! drink nothing but water, you can buy flavor power to add to it if you don't like plain water. Eat 2 yogurts for breakfast. Keep your calories to less than 2000 a day. Try to keep it around 1800 if possible. It is hard at first to count, but after about 2 weeks it is VERY VERY easy. Don't eat fast food. Eat salads with fat free dressing. Have a cheat day once every 2 weeks to treat yourself. Do 30 min. of Cardo 4x a week. The BIKE is the best, keep your heart rate at about 150. Eat 5-6 small meals a day 250-350 cal. each. with one big meal 600 cal.
well there is your problem...stop that pop!...i used to do the same thing....you will be amazed how much pop makes a difference to your body...pop has loads of sugar and sugar ultimately turns to fat, so even though your exercising your just putting it right back on...once i started to drink mostly water and low calorie juices and stopped the pop i saw my work out results better....try it!!...
Limit the soda! Or even better switch to diet. It sucks but it definitely helps a good bit. Cardio is the best way to lose weight...running, ellipticals, bikes. A great way to help burn fat and firm up is to do lunges. I am in shape and they still give me one hell of a work out. I hold 5lb free weights and do two reps of 20. The first time you do them I recommend only doing two reps of 10 or you will be damn sore. Swimming is also a really great way to help lose weight. It is low impact, easy and fun. Tae bo is really great to do as well, it is a great mixture of cardio and toning. Personally, your weight isn't bad for being 6ft. I am 6ft 2in and weigh about 160 and a chick. Most of your weight is muscle too. Try to incorporate more weight training to convert that fat into muscle. Good luck! And keep it up.

Okay, I really want to lose weight. i don't look fat, but i don't feel healthy either. my thighs and stomach are the worst. i weight 130 pounds and i am 5'6. ever since i met my friend who was really overweight, i've been gaining weight because i was constantly at her house, and all she did was eat. now she moved nnd we don't hang out anymore, but i have bad habits, and i gained a LOT of weight and i REALLY want to lose it again. 5 lbs per day?? I don't think that's even possible. Even 5 lbs per week is unhealthy unless you're really really overweight. Trust me, it's unhealthy. I'm a recovering exercise bulimic and I used to lose 6 lbs a week and I became sick because I lost too much weight and too fast. Be safe. You're only supposed to lose 1-2 lbs per week...3 lbs is kind of pushing it.
Join a wrestling team...wrestlers lose on average 4-5 lbs per practice...

Eat LOTS of fiber with each meal. It'll help "clean" you out each day so you're stomach will be flatter. Try a high fiber cereal and some fruit. Pear skin has tons of fiber in it. It really does help.
Got a great answer for you. It is doable because I have done it. Get a bike, and ride!! That's right, don't walk, or jog. Get a bike and ride at least 10 miles a day. Bikes are different because they are fun, fast, and give you the freedom of the open road. If you have a pocket digital camera you can also take it along with you to put some more bang on the fun. 5. do chest and triceps exercises on one day
6. do back and biceps exercises on a different day
7. do legs and shoulder exercises on a different day
8. do your exercises in sets (i.e. 3 times with 6-12 repetitions each)
9. keep a record of what you do to measure progress.
10. when your progress stalls (called "plateau"), switch up your routine.

Lose fat and tone muscle?

I've been working out for over a year and see very little results. i do weights, push ups, sit ups every day until fatigue. The thing is, no muscles seem to be toning. I used to weigh about 190 and now i'm down to about 150. I have flab (the kind that shakes if you flick it) in my triceps and my biceps are so bad that when i flex, you can BARELY see the muscle line. what can i do to get rid of all that flab/fat in my upper arms and get some toned arms? (not big.....just toned)

It sounds like your muscles aren't growing enough. Your body always keeps a thin layer of fat for insulation, or incase you don't get food for a few days. If your muscles don't grow, this layer will seem thicker in relation to the rest of your body, and it will be enough to cover up your toned-ness.
You're probably not eating enough protein and calories. If you work out a lot and don't eat enough protein, your muscles will get stronger, but you won't be able to get bigger. If you don't eat enough calories, you'll get stronger, but you won't have enough nergy to build muscle, and your body will cannibalize itself to get the energy to work out and rebuild(This may be why you've lost so much weight). Well it all depends on how you wan to do this. The way that I look at it is do you have 10 pounds to lose? If so, do you just want to lose weight or lose fat but gain tone and definition to muscles?I have been getting into building and sculpting my body just recently. I have several different ways of doing this just with easy exercise every other day for 1 hour at a time. Target the problem areas: abs and legs as these are the areas for most people. Abs: Do pyramids of crunches. This goes as follows:
5 crunches, stand up and run in place for 10 seconds
10 crunches, repeat the running
15 crunches, repeat the running
20 crunches, run
15, run
10 run
9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 with running in between. this is a total of 120 crunches and you won't even notice it. It also works your legs.Legs: go for a long Jog/Walk. Three miles or so. do this on the in between days of the crunches. After the walk, do scissor kicks (see google for instructions). You can eat regularly through this ordeal as your body will need the carbs/protiens you injest for energy and muscle gain. The fat you have will be burned off as energy as well. Keep this up with light lifting and you will have that Spring Break goal of yours.

If you can buy your own food, get rid of the junk you know you shouldn't eat (donate it or give it to a friend) and load up on food you like and know are good for you. try a new piece of friut/veggie a day if you don't know what to get. Find active and healthy role models in your friends and join them. Put yourself in the zone, and the regiment will be achievable.The answers that are worth listening to will probably be similar to my answer in making a basic healthy lifestyle change in eating healthier foods, working out and getting your sleep in. Weight Watchers. It's a bit expensive for the plan, but it really works. It's a healthy weight loss, so it ends up being more of a lifestyle change. So far I've lost 8.6 pounds in 4 weeks just by changing my diet. You have to be patient though. One can't lose weight healthily overnight!

Get light weights which you can use at home which will work to build your muscle bulk and don鈥檛 forget to stretch. Loose stomach skin?

Hi, recently i lost a lot of fat around my stomach because i used to be sorta chubby =P now, my stomach is all loose and stretchy. so when i bend over like to sit, there are rolls of skin/fat, and it has sorta bothered me when going to places like pool parties. Is there anyway to get rid of it?

Depends how young you are. If your young, younger than 16 your skin will begin to shrink again. If your older, surgery will be required.
The only way to really get rid of it is by getting a tummy tuck, which is a major surgical procedure that tightens the abdominal muscles and removes excess skin and fat. There are different types of tummy tucks so, only a plastic surgeon can tell you which one is right for you. I'm looking for a program to get healthier, I have tried a few different things but nothing seems to work, so I want to set a schedule for myself and my fiance. We like to play softball, fence, I like basket ball, he likes Hockey. But I'm not sure that our activity is really the issue, I believe I am gaining weight due to metabolism. I tend to only eat once a day, because I run late for work then get busy and don't eat til dinner. My fiance simply eats a lot. Our eating habits are simple, too much fast food and not enough veggies. We like salads, and most regular garden vegetables (Carrots, Lettus, tomatoes, etc) we eat too much potatoes and corn. we like most fruits to include but not limited to strawberries, grapes, oranges, apples, etc. we eat chicken and beef, but not pork. I am allergic.
I just want a schedule of meals and activities that we can try to stick to while we are both working full time and not spend a bunch of money on.

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me. Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. easy enough... you have to eat. its that sinple.. you only eat once a day! well your body sees that and starts storing everything it can because it sees starvation. that why your metabolism slows down. eat more metadolism speeds up.. its that simple.
food wise. cut back a little on the fruits and high carb stuff and up the veggies. the trick with carbs is to eat them right after a workout or active time. no meals after 8:00pm just small salads and stuff like that...
money wise.. well ,carbs and fatty stuff are just plain ol dirt cheap...want eat better. its gonna cost you some. how much is up to you. whats your health worth????????????

To really learn you should speak with an Isagenix coach. The lady I've been working with is wonderful. She is a cleanser as well - losing almost 40 pounds that had been with her for 30 years!!.You won't feel any pressure to buy anything, she'll just answer your questions. The rest is up to you. She even has a simple spreadsheet program that you fill in to determine how the cost of the product compares to what you spend today on groceries, snacks etc...
